Who’s your Big Daddy?
Part of me feels this post is due to my fanatical obsession with 2K’s Bioshock franchise, yet I’m also convinced it’s merely my attempt to keep up with the site and give you guys up to the minute breaking news. Let’s compromise and say it’s both.
Regardless, 2K unveiled the Special Edition of next year’s sequel to the critically acclaimed underwater dystopian epic, Bioshock 2, which happens to be launching day and date with the regular version (February 9th, 2010). The package is described by the publisher as a limited availability offering, which will receive a single production run. It includes the following:
Bioshock 2 (duh)
3 “vintage ad” posters incorporating Rapture propaganda
A 164 page hardbound art book with dev. commentary
A vinyl 180g LP containing the orchestral score of the first Bioshock
A CD containing the orchestral score to Bioshock 2
This all comes in a fancy case of course, and will retail for about $99.99. This reminds me of our recent God of War III Collector’s Edition discussion, where I said fans who “like” the games in question shouldn’t waste their money; these packages are intended for fans who “love” the game. I LOVED Bioshock, so I’m absolutely getting my grubby mitts on this sucker. Also, it’s not like I’m risking a cheaply constructed Batarang or pair of NVG’s…it’s kind of hard to half-ass a record or CD. The soundtrack to Bioshock was incredible, and I plan to spin it while I do my naked yoga exercises.
